Children’s literature

With a professional degree in Resource and Project Management: Children’s Literature and Documentation, I have a long-standing fascination for issues relating to the translation of works for young readers. While some may wrongly believe that this is a simple exercise, in the same way as this category of literature is often defined by the image adults have of it, it can in fact prove particularly challenging for translators tempted to try their hand at it. These colourful and often entertaining books conceal a myriad of paratextual considerations, interpretive micro-decisions and translation choices. All these textual and graphic aspects further highlight the wealth of this literary genre brimming with surprises. Trust me with your children’s books and novels with your eyes wide open!
